Competition Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms govern your use of The Pack Butcher (https://packbutchercomps.co.uk) and your entry into any prize competition promoted on it. The Website and Competitions are operated by MCR Labs Ltd (trading as The Pack Butcher), a company registered in England & Wales under company number 17228923, registered office 10 Sproston Place, Middlewich, CW10 0FY ("we", "us", the "Promoter").

By entering a Competition you agree to these Terms and any specific rules published for that Competition. Every Competition can be entered free by post, with exactly the same chance of winning as a paid entry (see clause 6 and our Free Entry page). No purchase is necessary.

These Terms also cover the free games, quests and rewards on the Website (clause 16).

2. Eligibility

Competitions are open to UK residents aged 18 or over at the time of entry, except employees of the Promoter, their families and anyone connected with administering the Competition. We may require proof of identity, age and address before awarding a prize. We are committed to fair and responsible play; please see our Responsible Play page.

3. How Competitions work

Each Competition publishes its prize, ticket price, total number of tickets, opening and closing dates and any specific rules. A Competition closes at the earlier of its published closing date or all tickets being allocated. On a valid entry you are allocated one or more unique ticket numbers, chosen by our system. Some Competitions include instant-win prizes (clause 4) alongside the main prize drawn after close (clause 7). A Competition may set a maximum number of entries per person in its specific rules; we may void entries that exceed it.

4. Instant-win prizes

Where offered, a fixed number of ticket numbers are pre-designated as instant winners before the Competition opens. If a ticket allocated to you is a pre-designated winner, you win that prize immediately, shown on entry and confirmed by email. Instant wins may be cash, site credit or a physical item as stated. Winning or not winning an instant prize does not affect your entry into the main draw - every valid ticket is entered.

5. Valid entries

An entry is valid when a paid entry has been completed and ticket numbers allocated, or when a free postal entry that meets clause 6 has been received before the Competition closes. There is no question to answer. Every valid entry, paid or free, is entered into the main draw and is eligible for any instant-win prize on the same terms.

6. Free entry route (no purchase necessary)

You may enter any Competition for free by post, with the same chance of winning as a paid entrant. Full instructions are on our Free Entry page. Each postal entry counts as one ticket and must be received before the closing date. It must include the email address of your account on the Website (creating one is free), so we can issue the ticket to that account. Any maximum number of entries per person (clause 3) applies to paid and free entries combined. Postal entrants are eligible for instant wins and the main draw on the same terms as paid entrants.

7. The draw and the main prize

After a Competition closes, the main prize winner is drawn at random from all valid entries (clause 5) using a verifiable random method; we may publish the method and a verification seed. The winning ticket number and the winner's first name and county will be published. We will notify the winner within 7 days; if a winner cannot be contacted or does not claim within 14 days, we may withdraw the prize and re-draw.

8. Payments, minimum entries and cancellations

Paid entries are processed securely by our third-party payment provider. Prices are in pounds sterling. Where a Competition has a minimum number of tickets and that minimum is not met, we may extend the closing date, draw on the tickets sold, or cancel and refund paid entrants. Except as required by law, entries are final and payments non-refundable once a ticket is allocated.

9. Site credit

Site credit can be used to enter future Competitions. You may receive it as an instant-win prize, a referral reward, a Butcher's Ladder reward, a Sidequests or Pack Beasts race prize (clause 16) or a goodwill gesture. It has no cash value, is non-transferable and non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for cash except where required by law. We keep a record of all credit movements on your account. Credit paid in error or gained in breach of these Terms may be removed (clause 16.9). If you delete your account, any unused site credit is lost.

10. Prizes generally

Prizes are as described in the specific rules; images are illustrative. We may substitute a prize of equal or greater value where necessary. Prizes are non-transferable with no cash alternative unless stated. You are responsible for any tax and running costs. UK mainland delivery applies unless agreed otherwise; risk passes on delivery.

11. Winner publicity

Winners agree we may publish their first name and county and the winning ticket number for transparency.

12. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account details accurate and secure, including a valid name and address for prize fulfilment. We may suspend accounts that breach these Terms.

13. Liability

Nothing excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or anything that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for entries not received due to technical failure or matters beyond our reasonable control, and our total liability is limited to the value of the ticket(s) you paid.

14. Data protection

We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK data protection law.

15. Complaints

We aim to run every Competition fairly and transparently. If you have a complaint about a Competition or a prize, please contact us at support@packbutchercomps.co.uk with your account details and the Competition name. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 days.

16. Games, quests and rewards

16.1 What this covers. Alongside Competitions, the Website offers free extras: the Sidequests and Pack Beasts card games, quests and streaks, badges, the Butcher's Ladder, live-draw codes and draw reminders. You need an account to use them, and the eligibility rules in clause 2 apply to them in the same way. They are separate from Competitions: nothing in them is an entry into a Competition, and they never change how Competition winners are chosen or anyone's chance of winning. Some features may be switched off or not yet available.

16.2 No cash value. Cuts, Pack Points, streaks, badges and the digital cards in Sidequests and Pack Beasts are part of the games only. They have no cash or monetary value, are not your property and can't be bought on their own. They can't be sold, traded or transferred to anyone else, or exchanged for cash or site credit. The only things of value these features can give you are the site credit and posted rewards described in clauses 16.5 to 16.7.

16.3 Quests and streaks. Quests are small actions listed on the Quests page, such as opening a free daily pack, entering a free giveaway, entering a live-draw code, linking your Discord account or checking a draw result. Each quest can be completed once in the period shown on the page (for example once a day or once a season). Quests earn Cuts (clause 16.5) only while a Ladder season is running, up to a daily limit on Cuts from free actions. Your streak counts the UK calendar days in a row on which you opened a free pack in Sidequests (on the Website or through our Discord) or Pack Beasts. Miss a day and it starts again. Every 7th day in a row earns a streak bonus.

16.4 Badges. Badges are cosmetic awards shown on your player card. They never earn Cuts, site credit or prizes. Some badges are only available for a limited time or as Ladder rewards.

16.5 The Butcher's Ladder. (a) The Ladder runs in seasons, with the dates shown on the Ladder page. During a running season you collect Cuts: 10 Cuts for every £1 you pay for Competition entries (amounts covered by site credit or a discount code don't count), Cuts for quests (clause 16.3), and Cuts when a friend you referred makes their first paid entry. The Cuts each action earns are shown on the Ladder and Quests pages. Free postal entries have the same chance of winning a Competition but do not earn Cuts. (b) Cuts move you up the Ladder's tiers. Each tier has a free-lane reward, open to everyone who reaches it, and a premium-lane reward. The premium lane is switched on for a season by your first paid entry in that season. There is no pass to buy. (c) Rewards are site credit (clause 9), sealed booster packs and bundles posted to the name and address on your account (clause 10 applies), and cosmetic badges. You must claim each reward on the Ladder page during the season or within 14 days after it ends. Rewards not claimed by then lapse. (d) Cuts only count in the season they were earned. Everyone starts each new season at zero, and Cuts can't be carried over.

16.6 Sidequests. Sidequests is a card-collecting game. You can open one free pack every 20 hours on the Website, and one more every 20 hours through our Discord server if your account is linked. You also receive 1 Pack Point for every whole £1 you pay for Competition entries, and 10 Pack Points open an extra pack. Unspent Pack Points go back to zero whenever a new Sidequests season starts. When a featured set is running, the first 3 players to collect every card in it win the site credit prizes shown on the Sidequests page, paid to their account automatically when they complete it.

16.7 Pack Beasts. Pack Beasts is a free game featuring our own original creatures. Every account can open one free pack of 5 cards each UK calendar day. There are no paid packs: no purchase, payment, Competition entry, Pack Points or Cuts can get you extra packs or better odds. Our server deals every card, and the odds for each card slot are shown on the Quests page. You can shred spare copies (copies beyond your first) to pick a card you're missing, at the rate shown on the page. Shredding never removes a card you only have one of. When the prize race is on, the first 3 players to own every card in the current series win the site credit prizes shown on the page for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Places go in the order players complete the set, as recorded by our server, and prizes are paid to the winner's account automatically at that moment. Each player can take only one place in each series.

16.8 Live-draw codes and reminders. During some live draws we show a code on stream. Entering it on the Live or Quests page while it is running (for up to 3 hours) completes the live-draw quest. You can use one code per UK calendar day, and too many wrong codes in a short time pauses code entry for up to 15 minutes. You can also ask us to remind you about a live draw: we send an app notification if you use our iPhone app, or otherwise an email, about 15 minutes before it starts. You can turn a reminder off at any time with the same button. Reminders are a free convenience: we can't guarantee they arrive on time, and missing a draw doesn't affect your entry.

16.9 Fair play. One account per person. You must not use bots, scripts or other automation, exploit bugs or errors, or play on someone else's account. If we reasonably believe that Cuts, Pack Points, cards, badges, streaks, quest completions, rewards or prizes were gained through abuse, multiple accounts, automation or an error (ours or anyone else's), we may adjust or remove them, refuse or cancel rewards and prizes (including removing site credit that came from them), and suspend accounts under clause 12.

16.10 Changes. These features are free extras. We may change, pause or end any of them, including which actions earn Cuts and how many, tier rewards, card odds, the shred rate, race prizes and season dates, for example to fix mistakes, stop abuse or meet legal requirements. Changes will be shown on the relevant page. Except under clause 16.9, we won't take away site credit already paid into your account, rewards you have already claimed or a race place already won.

17. General

We may amend these Terms; the version in force when you enter governs that entry. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continue in force. These Terms are governed by the law of England & Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. Questions: support@packbutchercomps.co.uk.
